Before seeing the film, I was theoretically in the camp of “this is an early to mid-November movie”, and I’m very surprised that my mind changed on this.

I honestly didn’t know how much of the film was a riff on The Grinch. But like, if the Grinch was a friendly goth instead of a cranky neighbor.

Obviously, not trying to say it’s *wrong* to watch the film in October, but the film uses Halloween for its setting / characters, and Christmas for Skelington’s character arc / the overall story structure.

The latter is what the movie is “about” imo.

For me that slot was taken up by the moment I went “Oh hey, Matthew Lillard is in this! I bet he’s the twist villain…”

Lowkey starting to think he’s this generation’s Christopher Lee. Gravitas for days, voice that sounds like an earthquake, frequently squandered.
