Photographed at the end of a sunny afternoon in March 2024, at Old Deerfield Burying Ground, in Deerfield, Massachusetts. I’m pretty certain this stone is actually grey, maybe even black, but it caught the golden hour light such that it came out white in all my photographs.

In case you find the inscription as ambiguous as I do, Mary “Molley” Bettey died in 1757 according to findagrave. Andrew Bettey married another Mary in 1758, and she outlived him.

In case you find the inscription as ambiguous as I do, Mary “Molley” Bettey died in 1757 according to findagrave. Andrew Bettey married another Mary in 1758, and she outlived him.
