National Highways has published a list of 182 locations of outfalls and soakaways for capturing road runoff pollution on the Stretegic Road Network (SRN) that it has promised to remediate by 2030, which has been hailed as “massive progress” by campaigners.

The underlying cause of this is the same as for the cladding scandal. The breakdown of building regulation. You have very little protection when you buy a new build. As with cladding, it's the leaseholders who end up on the hook for fixing it.
