Agreed. I don't think KEA was that naive to believe Dieng is immediate impact. Do I think KEA was hoping that maybe, possibly, hopefully it could happen? Oh yeah. But looking back, I don't think it's a reach to saw they were one Tani replacement away from seriously competing. And that sucks.

I don't know if KEA believed Momo Dieng was going to step in immediately or if team knew he'd be a project coming from USL. Either way, they needed production immediately and that wasn't it (he may still turn into something). Strikers cost all the money, but you either spend it don't.

100% agree on not getting a GK in free agency last year (something @brucedunord.bsky.social was rightly harping on last summer). FO would never say DSC wouldn't re-sign or DSC would say he wanted out, though. No way to avoid a PR hit on that, but a veteran GK would have softened that blow for sure.

3. If you thought the fans were big mad at Tani getting sold last season, imagine if we sold DSC too to recoup money if he was leaving! And it would have to be at a discount because of his contract!

2. We don't have a serviceable backup and that is a system failure. Smir isn't starting caliber. MNUFC appear high on Speel but he wasn't near ready for prime time yet. Kayne Rizvanovich may be the future at the position but he isn't old enough to vote yet.
