A cheesy LinkedIn post: Hey. uh. so. it's me. bill yost. about six months ago I deleted the Linkedin app from my phone while experimenting with a custom Al agent that could post for me. I wanted to see if it could build a whole thought leader persona on its own. anyway, I just reinstalled the app. apparently it's... been posting? just wanted to say: sorry about that. and... were the posts good? should I keep letting it cook? why are there so many messages about blink182 in my inbox? also what's up with this pirate flag thanks

Article text: On April 5, 2024, Cha pulled up in a Jaguar behind a UPS driver delivering a package to a house on Mon-roe Drive in Mountain View. Cha tried to bribe the driver to give him the package, which had a credit card inside, police said. The UPS driver agreed not to call police but later helped identify Cha out of a photo lineup, police said.

I watched Superman today and loved seeing Cincinnati's Union Terminal looking just like it did when I visited it via Amtrak last year.
The front face of the terminal at midnight as I arrived for my late night departure. The windows are a glowing yellow with a lovely lit clock at the center of the semicircular art deco front. Inside the terminal is a large rotunda with a tall mural around the back and signs saying "to trains" which were also present in James Gunn's movie There was a side exit labeled "incoming taxis and motor coaches" that I didn't see in the film, but it is cool Way in the back of the station there's a waiting area with rows of seats. This wasn't in the movie but it was a wonderful memory from my trip.

Intentionally Unfinished.
A monument to Abraham Lincoln stands above the highest point of I-80 near Laramie. Despite its unfinished look, it was intentionally constructed from many parts that were assembled remotely and on site.

I went to the National Museum of Roller Skating
A wide angle outdoor view of the museum, which appears to be in a former church. Most of the insides is office space for a skating association and the museum is in the back Among the stickers on display, this was the logo of the roller rink where I first skated This was the rink of the rink in Redwood City that we rented for my 50th birthday party. Sadly it's been lost to a construction project. There were many other interesting things but this statue shows a that fell and saw Jesus, so it seemed worth including.

Sitting inside a booth, I see the empty box up close that really seems to be for some kind of video display Stepping back, the clean smooth metal made it easy to clean off the spilled slushies and pizza crumbs from the LAN parties that I'm guessing they used to have here.

Welcome to Indiana! Enjoy our inoperative viewing booths
Inside the welcome center at the Illinois-Indiana border on I-74 there is an empty information desk, a few walls of brochures, and a block of metal booths that appear to be for viewing welcome videos The booths have a shiny mid-century modern look with tall rectangular areas that look like they could be filled by screens with a space for a coin op slot below them. Coin-op videos at the welcome center?

Griffin writes that a group of lesbians in Chicago threw parties in the 1930s called “Mickey Mouse parties” and that there was a gay bar in Berlin called “Mickey Mouse.” Griffin explains that this time period is when the word “gay” was starting to be used as slang for homosexuality instead of just meaning happiness. There was a poster of Mickey that said “Always Gay!” on it and Griffin writes, “Although Walt and most (if not all) of his employees probably would not have known this new meaning to the word when they created the aforementioned poster in the 1930s, it seems that certain audience members were watching and enjoying Mickey’s ‘gaiety’ in all its connotations. This dynamic becomes more apparent when certain historical evidence suggests that the phrase ‘Mickey Mouse’ itself was bandied about by some homosexuals as a code phrase.”
