Secondly, the reason the focus has to stay on waste is that if you’re not going to reduce the expenses, then the only way to deal with deficit is to increase revenue - the primary source of revenue is taxation. Guess who’s getting under-taxed?

The fantasy of UBI that wafts around is something like a basic living wage where you could live a decent life without needing to work unless you wanted to. But proponents need to explain why that would be in the interest of anyone making the decision or the corporate interests that pay them

A common rejoinder is that "… the government will have no choice but to introduce UBI…" – Maybe, but the thing to do would logically be to set the level of UBI to just enough to prevent civil unrest and that's all – so subsistence income, basically…

Anyways. My point is: futures thinking without any analysis of structural power is delusional. However futures thinking which engages with an analysis of structural power doesn’t get you hired by corporations. So what are you going to do?

It’s almost like there are two… what’s the word? Like… “classes” of people. One that keeps acquiring more capital and the other that keeps endlessly having to work. Not sure what you’d label them, but that’s the difference…
