How Timbers Fans Of Reddit Keep Game Day Spirit Alive from Afar
When the Portland Timbers take the pitch at Providence Park, the roar of the Timbers Army is unmistakable. But for many supporters, matchday means finding ways to channel that same passion from miles away. A recent thread on r/Timbers posed a simple question: "When you can't make it to the stadium, how do you keep the game day energy alive?" The answers revealed just how locked in the Timbers faithful are, even from a distance. Beer, food, and other consumables It isn't easy to find a city more dedicated to its craft beer than…

2-1 comeback victory for @timbers.com and a great second half for Antony. It was another match where we gave up really good chances but St. Louis did not have the quality today. Up to 4th in the West and scoring goals, cannot be mad at that! #RCTID #PTFC #MLS

Pantemis is looking great! I understand why St. Louis are second to last in the West. Ortiz must be amazing in training because I am not sure why hemis getting so many minutes in the midfield lately. #PTFC #RCTID #MLS

Love seeing Pantemis back between the sticks, no Chara and the Zuparic and Miller pairing have me a little on edge... that said, I can be a chicken little from time to time. LETS GO TIMBERS! #PTFC #RCTID #Timbers

Great to see Finn Surman do so well for New Zealand, but I feel like he is really going to be missed today against St. Louis. Time for the midfield and front line to dominate. #PTFC #RCTID

Behind The Timbers Roar: How Public Records Reveal the Taxpayer Investment in Providence Park
When fans chant and drums echo through Providence Park, it is easy to get swept up in the excitement of a Portland Timbers match. However, behind the scenes, every goal and gravity-defying save is a story of a public-private partnership that reshaped an aging stadium into a state-of-the-art venue, thanks partly to taxpayer dollars and city planning. To secure an MLS expansion franchise, the City of Portland and Timbers owner Peregrine Sports LLC agreed in 2010 to overhaul the aging facility. Details of that bargain appear in the FY 2014-15 Adopted Budget, Volume 2.
