Doubtful Doug Jones would’ve completely solved SCOTUS but I do think US v Trump was so bad in part because it took so long to get going. SCOTUS didn’t have to worry about immediate backlash from Congress by that point.

Its the decisions themselves and a decision-making process so blatantly hackish it would make Anthony Kennedy blush. Kennedy was more a squish than a hack I suppose, but it was very often driven by the same results oriented process that has captured the court's republican majority.

You can beat the (w)rap but you can't beat the ride (as Popehat likes to say). Getting arrested, going through a trial and losing your job seems like an OK punishment. There's no way you should give cops the idea that it is OK the be extra rough with an annoying perp (a lot already think that!).
