I’d say the same about Miami, Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame and A&M, by the way. Twelve teams is too many for a playoff, as far as I’m concerned.

I dunno why anyone would argue about Oregon’s seed last year based on something that hadn’t happened until after they were seeded. The difference with JMU and Tulane is that we saw them lose to P4 teams in the regular season and could reasonably infer that they were not true title contenders.

Drop the “five conference champions” thing and just say any undefeated team is guaranteed a spot in the field. One- and two-loss G5 teams do not belong, unfortunately, but undefeated G5 vs. a power team can still be compelling, at least in the lead up to the game, if nothing else.

Don’t forget the continuing Giannis drama and the team’s futility when he’s not available!

Lots of fouls, mostly to Marquette’s benefit but down 18 at half after Indiana’s coach’s kid scored 24 in the first half and another guy drained a halfcourt shot at the buzzer. Coach’s kid seems to have come back to earth in the second half. Deficit’s down to 10 at the U12 on a Zaide Lowery 3.
