It allowed our country to take the global lead in engineering, while providing enough time for people to enjoy their lives outside work. It demolished income inequality, raising millions out of poverty and into the suburbs.

Guess what that allowed: The Space Program. The interstate road system. The massive explosion in home ownership. Most of the other travel infrastructure that we currently rely on (and why so much of it is falling apart). It hugely expanded access to telecommunications and public education.

But here's the kicker: The top marginal corporate tax rate was 42% for all profits over $25,000 (~$400,000 today). The top PERSONAL tax rate was 91% on all income over $400,000 (~$5.4 MILLION today) filing jointly.

The other thing that time period had? FLAGRANT and pervasive SOCIALISM! GASP! Social Security was relatively new. The Federal Minimum Wage was relatively new. GI Bill...new. New housing costs and rent were strictly regulated.

What did that time NOT have? Bodily and financial autonomy for 50% of the population.
What did that time have? Rampant, systemic racism against just about any brown or black person.
