If I'm in a dragon's lair while he's sleeping I probably got lost in the middle of nowhere at night
would be tired if that happened so i'd just sleep with the kobold

To me fatal is between digestion and perma where the prey isn't gone for good but doesn't really have an easy way to get revived.
Spent way too long trying to explain what my brain thinks and am still not too happy with that answer but i'll go with it
