Done and been attacked by police and military as thousands of other pacific people trying to do a referendum. Your comments show an imperialistic ideology and an attitude based on imposition. If you were alive during Ghandi movement in India I guess you would be asking for an agressive response

Of course land is from people that lives in, like there ancestors did and build a community. Recovering an independence or repairing arbitrary borders from past isn't comparable to slavery. Talking about USA, indigenous peoples could 100% legitimate ask for a full independence if they one day unite

Majorities, also is based on majorities because that is real democracy. Not only to be asked every 4-5 years about simple thinks because greter ones are far from us, decided by establishment. I understand, it is difficult to a person with this high standards of centralism and obsession in world map.

you that prioritize today's borders (totally imposed and arbitrary) over the will of the people it can't be changed, there is no way until it explodes. Also, a lot of borders in Africa are imposed by colonizers and have caused civil wars so borders can and must change to addapt to real communities.

the people inside them and not vice versa. For instance, Transylvania is now a region in Romania since 1920. Before, it was part of Hungary. People didn't decide, it was in victory terms of WWI. A lot of people there still now speak magyar and identify as hongarian as all their ancestors did. For

It seems - maybe because of your education or cultural envioronment - your are zero familiar or uncare about regional traits (and rights). Some were independent or part of other countries time ago. You are denying it. Today's borders are the result of pacts, wars... They MUST be at the service of
December 19, 2024 at 11:23 PM
they want even it includes a way to separate a region "legally". Sometimes this frustration mouths in terrorist groups, civil wars ... Why are central govs so scared about doing referendums? Just see majorities and let (if +50%) that people organise as they want. That is real democracy # imposition
December 19, 2024 at 7:41 PM
So you say all peoples that want and independence are like kids, what a respect on their history and singularity! Scotland, Transylvania, Quebec, Catalonia, Flanders... have been negated long time (or still today) to do a "legal" referendum. Central govs in every country read international law as...
December 19, 2024 at 7:37 PM
It is not arbitrary, the key element is to have an own community with cultural/ ethnic/ religion... traits. You speak as frontiers today are the same as it were during Roman Empire. Contries can change (and should) like society and group of people. Keeping outdated frontiers is what creates conflict

If citizens of Chicago metrop.- after becoming a community with enough differences from neighbours - one day want to become an independent state or even integrate to Canada, it's their right, they should be able to vote. They should chose like american chose years ago to start an independence war.
December 19, 2024 at 1:32 PM
..but as said before, all this could have been avoided with other attitude from central gov in Kiev since events in 2014. At least Russia wouldn't have had that excuse and now we would have known which opinion had citizens, where they wanted to belong. UA sovereignty from RU same as Donbass from UA.
December 17, 2024 at 9:29 PM
I agree with all. Now this referendum would have bias. It would have been perfect in 2014 with the society of that moment as a pacific solution to avoid escalation of violence. And I won't negate that Russia is taking advantatge of this situation to his own agenda meanwhile is deffending separatists
December 17, 2024 at 9:21 PM
This is the common "trap" used by centralist politics. They say to a group of people: win the election in the whole country and then plan a referendum. International law and human rights are clear: only the community interested in this action must vote, after agreeing which regions are included

Done and commented, very interesting debate.
Continuing this exercise of imagination:
2025. Russian troops withdraw from Ukraine frontiers. No conditions.
Will Ukraine give the oportunity to eastern regions to have the autonomy that they wanted in referendum? For better or worse, with present census
December 17, 2024 at 5:08 PM
As you said, I highly empathize with people of eastern Ukraine that want to be different (autonomous, independent, ...whatever). It is not clear but in 2014 there were enough citizens that don't wanted to be ukranian to start a conflict. Only be outsiders it won't last. Solution should be referendum
December 17, 2024 at 4:56 PM
Your comparison is very accurate but the key point is where to begin. As a kids arguing "who started?". In that scenario you are showing (and same in real now) we can easily join one side or another depending on where do you fix the start point, in which moment you establish enough background.

Your thread is the first answer to any of my replies in this new network without insults.Thank you, I apreciate it. They say it is better than X but all I found (maybe cause random algorithm) is people reinforcing their own positions and blaming other views. I call extremism to this attitudes.
December 17, 2024 at 4:41 PM
And, for instance, US started an illegal independence from British Empire. Context is important.
December 17, 2024 at 3:06 PM
Here we can see why Ukraine was one of the first states to give full support to military and police that hit pacific people trying to to a referendum. Yes, an "illegal" referendum because it's inpossible to have one legal.
A centralist state that hates ethnic groups, as Spain so.

Thanks for this review. I will check my English sentences to not offend your eyes of native speaker of the most imposed language in the world.
It's good to know that is a shame to have few posts, followers... Even if you are NEW to this NEW social network.
The one who moves 1mm to your "true" is 😵
December 17, 2024 at 3:00 PM
Good comparison. I will add this: the fridge wanted (before all this scenario) to have a full autonomy and the right to be independent. It was promised to them but the whole kitchen negated after time. A violent neighbor appeared to "deffend" the fridge and other neighbor to sell weapons to kitchen.
December 17, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Seen and could agree in almost all. No objections. I'm not here to deffend russia, zero afiliations. But could anyone answer my question? Who is getting profit with this war? Do weapons and stuff just "appear" in UA? Or are a hand of people that is pushing to continue this (and all) war?
December 17, 2024 at 2:32 PM
I will use your usually argument: what you are saying is propaganda, NATO propaganda. Russia could have attacked the whole country but they focused in east. If your claim is true, why they didn't do a mass attack from the beggining? Russia may be interested in Donbass region as a "buffer" zone
December 17, 2024 at 2:12 PM
Of course they left their homes, I would do if an armed conflict starts where I live. But why it started? There were political decisions behind. Was it avoidable by central gov? Sure
Read until here? Seen any insult? Respect.

It makes me laugh to consider me either a bot or a russian agent. I have ZERO interests but it's sad how you all congregate saying same things and becoming more and more immunised to debate and different points of view.
