I also say this from experience. As I've had covid immediately after the first wave and the 2 weeks I was under were complete torture despite being fairly healthy prior. Luckily, with help from family, I was held accountable with my eating despite not wanting to in some cases and it helped A TON.

Eat. I know the appetite may wane during this time ESPECIALLY if/when loss of taste occurs. But eat. If weak, eat easy to chew/swallow foods. your body needs the nutrition and will fare better if you have daily food intake.

Never 'Just' anything. Our pets tend to be our lifeline in most cases and not even being his owner, i could tell he was loved immensely. You gave him the opportunity to love and be loved. You gave him a home, and even though he passed, I'm sure he passed knowing ALL of that love was meant for him.
