I love that your comment "Furries have a problem with hyperbole" is in and of itself and example of a furry using hyperbole.

Oooohhh. I completely misunderstood. Yeah, that's correct.

I understood point 2 to mean you can't engage in fictional concepts when the IRL counterpart has caused harm. Is that not the case?
December 2, 2025 at 2:01 PM
I understood point 2 to mean you cannot engage in fictional concepts when the IRL counterpart has caused harm IRL.

Murder has caused harm IRL. Horror deals heavily in the concept of murder. If point 2 is correct, then it applies to horror.
December 2, 2025 at 1:56 PM
I don't think I did. Point 1 is fine. Point 2 is wrong.
December 2, 2025 at 1:45 PM
#1 makes sense given that the horror genre exists and isn't morally wrong despite the distressing topics it often includes.
December 2, 2025 at 1:41 PM
I'm not sure that's a paradox. I think it's just wrong.
December 2, 2025 at 1:21 PM
If 2. is true, then you would not be allowed to be in support of most of the horror genre. Murder has caused actual harm in IRL after all.

I'm gonna be at the diaper bar party tomorrow night.

I have been! And I hope you have too (you seem to be having fun)

Have a fresh garbage bag and shower ready. It REALLY helps knowing you're ready for an easy cleanup.

This is why I like using Saw in my reductio ad absurdum argument. It's so disgustingly horrible, and also should be allowed to be made and enjoyed. I won't be enjoying it because it hurts me to see, but other people can enjoy it, and I would never say those people crave real torture.
September 26, 2025 at 4:36 PM
You can and should hold boundaries for yourself, especially for content that hurts you to see.
September 26, 2025 at 3:59 PM
There are minors depicted in Saw. I remember a clip of a scene of a dad in a bear trap thing telling his son to look away or something like that.

Of course, if that were real it'd be horrible horrible thing. My brain has trouble remembering that as not real. That's why I don't do horror.

There's no such thing as a thought crime. That's a tool of fascism.
September 26, 2025 at 3:37 PM
Yes, I'm not going to hold someone accountable for committing fictional harm. If I don't like it, it's my responsibilities to hold those boundaries.

It's a slippery slope fallacy to say that accepting fictional harm will lead to accepting real harm.
September 26, 2025 at 3:36 PM
My comfort of the content is irrelevant. I cannot stand the movie saw. If I see commercials for it, I'll have invasive thoughts for weeks. Yet, if someone else loves that movie, it would be ridiculous to think they're evil. It would also be ridiculous to say the horror community should draw a line.
September 26, 2025 at 3:30 PM
The idea that fictional content CAN be dangerous for some people who might want to make it real is the EXACT argument the anti violence in video games crowd makes. Why does that logic NOT apply to violent crime in games but DOES apply to sexual crime in art.
September 26, 2025 at 3:19 PM
I'm sorry someone showed that kind of content to you when you were underage. That must have hurt a lot.

Someone showed me horror films when I was too young and it hurt me. I can't even see commercials for the movie Saw without getting invasive thoughts. It's still acceptable to like Saw.

NSFW cub art depicts horrible actions.
The movie Saw depicts horrible actions.

The movie Saw is not morally wrong to create because depictions of horrible actions are not morally wrong.

You are describing a thought crime. That is a tool of fascism.

If you drawing your character stabbing mine is wrong, then is you drawing your character stabbing another one of your characters wrong? And if not, why is that different with sex instead of stabbing?

What if we both wanted you to draw your character stabbing mine? Would that be wrong too?
