The EES system is due to come in, in the Schengen Area, in October this year. That electronically records everyone coming in and out.
All those illegal immigrants that have been living under the wire (many are Brits) will be caught as soon as they try to leave.

The Portuguese govt are tightening up on ALL immigrants in Portugal. No-one should be surprised if they are asked to prove via bank statements, medical appointments, etc that they are living in Portugal.
After all, if legal it shouldn't be a problem should it?

Thanks Sally, this is what I know.

I take it you aren't one of the millions trying to eat whilst on benefits then?
The fear in the disabled community is palpable, for most benefits are all they have.
Do you think they wouldn't work if they could or making them poorer will induce them to be well enough to be in employment?
