It's because it's not real. The future will remain an illusion the more you fantasize about it.

And it'll never get here if you keep arguing on the internet about whether or not something will work instead of trying to see if it does. Do you feel me?

Something will replace it, and when that doesn't work, we replace it again. I'm begging people to rip out the idea of a utopia in your mind and instead replace it with actual work. There's a reason why in so many fictional media you see the "utopia" actually has Some Shit going on.

All this is kind of a rant from a post I saw earlier about something I dont even remember. He said something like, "police abolitionism is worthless unless you come up with something to replace it," and i was like DUH. the point of all of this is that if it's not working anymore, you change it.

Progressivism is a tower that you never stop building upon. It's never done. And you may never even see it at its best. But it's important that you tried and cared.

No solution we make as a society should ever be a permanent one. There should always be more to fix, especially as that society grows. It was so easy to repeal the laws people worked so hard to make because our representatives thought, "That's it, we did it. Racism/sexism/homophobia solved."

And that's fine. We keep changing. The only problems are the people who want perfection and think that removing themselves from the rest of us are going to achieve that. White supremacists, billionaire techbros who want to become digital gods, etc. I feel like many of us are on the same page.

But that's not true. There's always something more to do, something to correct. And I dont think the idea of constantly having to become better should fill people with defeatism. Whatever solution we come up with to "solve all our problems" will inevitable cause another down the line.

All My Colours by David Quantick. Very weird, but very satisfying. It's also my favorite book so far.
