She thought one match would do it. Make everything better again. All forgiven, forgotten. In February, month of cleansing.
She would be able to look him in the eye again, perhaps even hold his hand, who knew? Her mother said that flame removes everything. What didn't burn up was meant to be.
Here's the 7 Feb image for micro prompt of the day.

I'll post a prompt word or image. Write a micro using the prompt word/inspired by the image. Use hashtag #mpotd. Stay w/in 300 characters.

Damn MS fog. I'd forgotten I was here. I'm back. Haven't really been anywhere except for Substack. I am spotlighting Black writers as well as some of my favorite Horromance movies (on notes.) Keeping this page open so I don't forget it.😂

“It stopped being fun when I discovered the difference between good writing and bad, and then made an even more terrifying discovery—the difference between very good writing and true art: it is subtle, but savage. And after that, the whip came down!“

This has been sitting in a tab. It's rough, but so is grief, no?

It is a bit like eating glass and your heart is where your stomach sits. You reflect and reflect, seeking wisdom, and the knowledge gains you nothing but misery. But you still need to understand the why, and so keep eating.

Right now working on a micro about women, friendship, and violence.

I asked why I hadn't met any of his buddies though we'd been going out for months and he said that I was uncomfortable in my own skin. That I made him feel awkward and he didn't want them to feel weird. So last night I slipped into his skin and went out with the boys to paint the town red.

For some reason, most likely hearing about it in a show, I jotted down "Prayer Bean, Ga." It is highly poisonous, so perhaps an old episode of The Mentalist? It is an interesting little thing. Will definitely use it somewhere.

Maggie remembered actions spoke louder than words, but also left a mark, a question. So instead she opened the book grandpa James willed to her before Maggie fell in/out of love with a man who had no qualms with leaving a mark. Flipping the pages until finding the right chapter, right word, DEATH.

Everyone sat in shadow. Blaming it on the heat. Said it was too hot for words, so they grunted. Sometimes, they waved
a hand. Not a smooth movement. More jitters and glitch. Grandma stared, head shaking as though trying to convince someone that something was a bad idea. But still she stared.

Right now-

Lord Huron, Elliott chasing a fly throughout the house, a sluggishness from breakfast or the heat or the MS. Editing three pieces that I thought were further along. Distance is a harsh judge.
