And I wish we could give feedback on every single sub, but with the volume we received, it just isn’t possible. That’s why we created things like #10Queries: to offer insight on how we’re thinking, even if we can’t respond to everyone individually.

Now, if you don’t hear back and aren’t sure what your story needs next (or if it needs anything at all), it might be time to bring in a CP, freelance editor, or trusted reader with strong story instincts—to get high-level feedback and see if your manuscript needs a deeper revision or is query-ready.

Great question! And you’re definitely not alone in wondering this!

Quick note: Many of us are still not done notifying for both our #RevPit #10Queries picks & finalists, so hang tight a little longer. We know the wait can feel like limbo, but we want to be intentional in how we respond.

Aiming to get them emailed out by the end of the week! I'll post an update when I've sent out everything!

I would be honored to work with any of the authors and manuscripts subbed to me. Every single one showed talent, potential, and promise.

Not getting chosen for #RevPit doesn’t give you enough data to bury a project. Please don’t treat it like a final verdict.

Rooting for you all like mad!

Some authors don’t get chosen for #RevPit because their manuscript is already too polished. Some because the time constraints of the contest aren't a fit. Some because the editor had to choose one out of twenty they loved.

None of that is a reflection of your future in publishing.
April 15, 2025 at 3:51 PM
#RevPit editors don’t select the most deserving writer or even necessarily the book with the highest chance of success. Editors choose one project that fits into their current bandwidth. It has to *need* work & be something we're excited to pour our time and energy into on top of our paid work.

P20: A R. Strong sense of place and the humor threads naturally into the character's emotional state. To elevate the tension, consider anchoring the stakes a little sooner. What does the MC fear? What do they want? #RevPit #10Queries

Q20: A R. This query nails voice, tone, and setup. The stakes are hinted at but could be amplified for impact. Strengthening the hook—especially what emotionally or thematically sets this romance apart—could help it stand out in a crowded category. #RevPit #10Queries

P19: A R. The voice is smart, funny, and emotionally raw. Perfect for rom-com. We’re pulled into the aftermath of heartbreak, but to heighten stakes, consider grounding us faster in what the MC wants now. What’s the turning point that will move her from heartbreak to action? #RevPit #10Queries
