Probleem is dat D66, pvda en CDA baat hebben bij stabiliteit en de VVD niet. Die denken vast dat ze weer terug kunnen komen als ze 'links' kabinet laten ontploffen.

Ik snap niks van deze campagne. Op zich ben ik voorstander van meer populisme bij de progressieve partijen, maar juist niét op ideologisch vlak zoals D66 nu doet, maar meer in hoé je de boodschap brengt: ontregelender, aantrekkelijker en spannender, zoals bijvoorbeeld AOC doet.

Fico staat er best belabberd voor in de peilingen en Orbán relatief ook. In Polen dreigt PiS met Konfederacja vanaf 2027, wat ook vragen om ruzie en gekibbel is.

De motoristen hebben ook een extreemrechts programma, dus verlies van SPD is meer verplaatsing van hetzelfde lijkt me. Ik vraag me vooral af hoe stabiel dit allemaal is. Iets wat we nu in de hele Visegrad zien.

Er zijn flink wat parallellen te trekken tussen het huidige NLse kabinet en 8 jaar PiS. Het was echt niet zo dat we hier allemaal in een soort Orwelliaanse samenleving zaten of zo. Illiberalisme is juist vaak onzichtbaar in het dagelijkse leven (iets wat in de VS volgens mij echt anders is nu).

What starts to give me a very uncomfortable feeling is that we tend to talk a lot about hypothetical situations in 2030 or beyond, while Poland and the Baltics are facing hybrid warfare now. It sometimes feels that fear of what might happen in the future makes us reluctant to act and react.

If even Fico can come back after what happened in Slovakia, he might also put his money on accepting defeat to come back in power later. Some people here in Poland expected PiS to not accept their defeat in '23. Kaczyński challenged it, but played no tricks.

Ja, maar waar extreemrechts regeert stijgt de oppositie in de peilingen, zoals Slowakije en Hongarije. Waarschijnlijk heeft het grotendeels te maken met onzekere economische vooruitzichten en inflatie die erin blijft hakken.

Kunnen ze al die drones en brokstukken überhaupt wel uit de lucht schieten? Dat vraagt toch om monitoring? Het lijkt mij momenteel ook vooral een kwestie van waar ze de prioriteiten leggen. Schijnbaar vinden ze het alsnog incidenteel.

As far as I remember she did not want to be president for another term to protect her daughters from threats and bothering, though she did not want to play the victim card too much. It was really a shame, as I think she was one of the best leaders in Europe.

I am happy it's also here in the north of Poland as 'chłodnik'. This taste, together with Kashubian strawberries, defines the taste of summer for me.

I am very curious what could happen if PiS and Konf form a coalition that becomes highly unpopular when they have to cut spending on things or due to internal conflicts. Moving to the left or liberal is only beneficial again after 2030 I guess.

I think that if Trzecia Droga somehow passes the 8% (I doubt it though) a complete lack of any majority is possible? The Bulgarian scenario is something that could be real, but I think their president has not so much veto power.

IMO the chaos will also be after possible new elections as PiS and KonF won't be the best match on a lot of important topics, like finance. PiS had even some sort of stable position in the EU with supporting Ukraine between 2022 and 2024, but also that could be over if they return.

It has nothing to do with wishful thinking, as Razem is not on track to support any liberal centrists. Their share won't also be high, but more than 5% is quite something in Polish politics for such party.
