Rain lashes against the wide windows, but Enji’s eyes are on the classroom doors. “Good to be back?” “No,” Enji says. “It’s not ‘back’,” Jeanist says. “It’s not the same.” Keigo makes a point of sighing loud enough to echo in the hall. “Don’t get deep on me, Jeans.” “You prefer acid wash to indigo?” Jeanist says. “I just threw up in my mouth a little,” Keigo says. He turns to Enji. “Weren’t you the king of this place?” Enji’s eyes are cold and flat, but his voice stays quiet enough to cushion the iron. “No.” Two hard nos in a row. Okay. Noted. Noted. At least they’re almost there.
