This is about Apple's Uniform Type Identifiers (UTI)

Command-line tool "duti" sets which app acts as default handler for any UTI

→ duti: github.com/moretension/...
→ for bulk/automation: duti -v duti_file
→ ex: github.com/webpro/dotfi...
→ duti links to UI wrapper dutis (haven't used this myself)
