for me it's a mix of 2 things, when people start out with perspective/angles they'll use guidelines and think in 3D, I would do a similar thing but I kinda skipped a few steps... I like to draw these 'doorways' lately and then draw on-top of them (not trying to stay inside just as a reminder)

But also this sorta spiral method I saw a long time ago, after doing any of these methods though you get so used to it you don't need as many guidelines anymore, When drawing angles don't be afraid to let things get occluded, people want to show everything but for an angle to work you must sacrifice
