Your mechanic is ripping you off then. I clear customs shipments and the additional duty for car parts is 25%. Even if there were other tariffs that applied (I can’t know w/o knowing the country of origin it wouldn’t be over 100% unless if they were under the steel/alum tariff & from Russia (200%)

I work for a custom broker and I used to handle export shipments. I saw an email earlier this week from a Chinese importer asking the U.S shipper to please offset their price due to their 125% tariff. I thought “Do they expect them to give it to them free AND pay them to take the goods?!?”
