Don't worry. Of coooourse it's not 20 years old..

... It is in fact one month from being 22 years since it premiered.

Maybe not Hades, per se, but most games are unplayable, quite often literally but otherwise just figuratively as they will be buggy and missing content, without their day one patch. What's on disc/cartridge is not a worthy archival copy I'm afraid.

I cannot wait. My most anticipated game for sure.

...single artists who might be great at art or music or code or whatever be able to do the other disciplines well enough that they can make a game.
November 16, 2025 at 6:41 PM
So, I dont use the words to mean that actually. What u mean is that games are a multi disciplinary artwork, which then naturally has meant companies have an upper hand in that they can fund groups of people. And what I mean is that lowered barriers to engines, easier to use modelling etc helps ...

I was never ever referring to AI
I was referring to free tools like blender, free engines like unreal, godot and unity, free 2d software like gimb etc. These are the thibgs that used to be expensive or require specialists.
November 16, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Agreed. I do think letting a great artist make a game without learning coding by having engines available is more the type of things I mean.

I think my point was that the distinction to players based on execution can be eroded now, leaving the current super AAA products not that different in these aspects to a well made indy or solo project.

(I started out in my basement in the 90s making demos in assembly and art in deluxe paint so im not on some high and mighty horse here)
November 15, 2025 at 10:48 AM
My apologies. Bad choice of words. But I do think that theres a removal of barriers for things like rendering capable engines, powerful odeling tools etc. And you had to be very multi didact to make games on your own whereas now there's an accessibility to these things that didn't use to exist.
November 15, 2025 at 10:47 AM
But i think that theres a democatization of game dev happen where powerful tools and engines, peer to peer marketplace for portable assets and remote working enabling targeted contracting even for small devs. The era of Great looking/sounding games only possible with expensive development is over.

Now, I agree I don't like that climate. But I dont think its due to mentality, at all. It's the inevitable outcome of the capitalist forces that underpin it all. Faster and/or larger releases with escalating financial risk. A fast moving world with low attention span. Circumstance, not mentality.

To be honest I lay that at the feet of Sag Aftra for immediately turning around last year and making a deal for their members to be able to do just that. Thats the moment the bargainkng power was lost.

They were still a small team with a small budget relatively speaking. Their owner doesn't bestow them infinite resources. But yeah. I didn't want to really argue because I do hear you and your point of view is very valid. A slight mitigating factor is they did hire voice actors to make the TTS basis
November 12, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Its as simple as "we're a small team and we needed a way to be able to iterate and change what our vendors say very late in the making of the game without new recording sessions". Just to be clear i too think voice actors breathe life into games, just like you, I just think it was a pragmatic choice

A Moon Loon even?
November 9, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Maybe a Moony, from Loony?
November 9, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Maybe we take that word back and she is a Falser or Liar or Moron?

I'm just not sure if I want a 4 cylinder. Every one I've ridden have behaved as if I need to rev them really high to be fun. The three cylinder engine layout has a lot of power across the rev range and I like that.

I suspect it just looks better as a logo on a splash screen, which is more important that what it looks like in print? So then thats the legal name of the game.
