Was it a mistake, or was it the admin finding the person lowest on the org chart and throwing them under the bus once they figured out this wasn't going to go over how they would like?

As sad as it is, at this point I'll take victories where I can get them.

I prefer to call them accomplices when I want them to know the contempt I hold for them; quisling works when one wants plausible deniability (since there's a non-zero chance they wouldn't know what that meant.) Appeaser implies that they have no other choice - bowing down to fascism is a choice.

Wait until somebody tells him you need to have a social security number to file for social security benefits - watch his brain explode. I would be willing to bet that SSA vets that the proffered number belongs to the person submitting the application as well.
