Also gives $476m in Intercity rail funding, requires Metra to operate the RI district as "Regional rail" (pilot) before 01/1/2027 and has provisions for studying extending the Metra Electric to Kankakee among many other things in the bill~

Also from the MIPRC meeting, Amtrak has indicated they want to extend the Borealis from St Paul to big lake Minnesota which was the termini of the Northstar (which goes bye bye in 1/2026)

With all the chit chat going around about CTA funding don't forget about the bills that fund over $570mil toward passenger rail expansion/improvements (inc more rolling stock) plus $90mil for planning Expansions and new routes.
Need these to pass if we want a chance at getting QC rail soon. 1/2

The Amtrak Borealis will be running limited operations starting tomorrow. The Borealis was canceled because of the Horizon recall, but will be back up and running limited service using Superliners.
