Cataloger, baseball fan, crossword addict.
Want to know how my day is going? I just tried to push my headphone cord off the top of my monitor using my mouse pointer.

I brought my laptop to work today specifically so that I could work outside while I ate my croissant in order to avoid crumbing all over my work area. This level of strategizing is why I get paid the big bucks.

That cataloger urge to put spaces before and after colons and semicolons 😤

Ads about AI assistants make me irrationally angry. The system has been rigged by Corporate America™ so that we have to work longer for less pay, which means less time to do everything else (like sleep). But I can "save" time by throwing money at a new phone with an AI assistant? Go to hell.

I've been MISERABLE at work and realized it was because I've been spending all my time on projects, committees, and meetings. I gave myself a day to focus on cataloging and feel so much happier! I can't wait for these other obligations to wrap up so I can go back to doing what I enjoy every day!

Ah yes looks like Google finally tried to kill uBlock Origin. If it says it needs to be removed because it's not supported, you can just toggle it back on from the extensions page. Fuck that.

I was looking for a slack key guitar playlist on Spotify (because ya girl needed something relaxing today) and Spotify offered up an AI-generated Slack Key Mix that consisted primarily of ukulele music. This is one of many reasons why AI can fuck right off.

Let the young people in your life know that Costco has generic planb for $5.99.

You don’t need a membership to go to the pharmacy there.

Started Zoom on my work computer today to find that the AI Companion had been auto-enabled. After fruitlessly checking all the settings in the app, I learned I had to log into the WEB BROWSER version of Zoom to turn it off.

Every day my resentment of AI grows.

Inside of me are two opossums: one who absolutely loathes library committee work while the other volunteers for every committee opportunity.

Both of them would prefer to leave civilization behind to eat bugs in the forest.

Yeah, a real shame.
🚨 🚨 🚨 HOMEWORK 🚨 🚨 🚨

The email address for federal workers to inform on their colleagues is DEIAtruth@opm.gov.

Would be a real shame if folks flooded that inbox, rendering it useless.

The software on my Kindle Scribe updated, so now I can harness the formidable power of AI to help me write notes. Maybe the next enhancement could be an orientation lock, like every other digital device on the planet already has? Thanks for the AI, though, I guess.

Something I love about cataloging materials published by my own institution is the ability to email people with requests for more information AND THEY ARE HAPPY TO OBLIGE. I've found out some neat things about my own university because I asked for info to flesh out an authority record.

Freshly cataloged and added to the collection! A throwback to when the federal government acknowledged that marginalized people existed.

Something I did *not* have on my Houston bingo card was having to scrape ice and snow off of my car before leaving for work.

I have taken
the resources
that were in
the budget

and which
you were probably
saving
for higher education

Forgive me
they were needed
to feed the AI bubble
and to dismantle the humanities

This is not the kind of book I usually catalog, but how could I say no?

My Texas friends may appreciate this: I made a Library of Congress authority record for H-E-B today!

Creating name authority records never fails to lift my mood. Immortalizing people in the Library of Congress’s records? YES PLEASE.

The Libby app is a blessing and a curse when you have poor time management skills. I love being able to check out an ebook from my public library at any time, which means I can have a shiny new book at 2am (and a mostly finished book at 7am).
