M3GAN 2.0 is a version update for the horror/comedy franchise, it's sassy self-aware AI camp couture w sharp lines + a light shade of gore. Our fav PG-13 murderbot is back with a meatsack grudge trending as #TopDollBitch and I am H3RE FOR IT. One Thumb Up for unironic artificial entertainment. 👍🤖🤪

Ballerina explodes with Wickverse flair and creative kills but the repetitive plot spins in place (see what I did there) and the performances have no gravitas. Keanu’s cameo was juuust long enough to make me miss his doggo. One Thumb Up for stylish action, one Thumb Down for lack of substance. 👍👎🩰

The Naked Gun (2025) aims for stoooopid LOLs and hits the target bigtime. Money well spent on smart filmmaking for dumb comedy: nonstop quickfire gags, good action, great score, Neeson + Anderson understood the assignment and deliver deadpan gold. Two Thumbs Up w extra shots fired at OJ. 👍👍🤪🎯

F4:FS finally gives MCU’s First Family their flowers with an origin story that ditches multiverse madness + nonstop snark for sincerity + heart, lead by Pascal and Kirby. Plot is good enough and CGI is ehhh, but it's flashy and Galactus looms large in IMAX. Not fantastic but fine, one Thumb Up. 4️⃣👍

The Pickup feels like Bad Boys by Temu. Budget action beats + some funny lines from the charismatic cast but their comedic talent is wasted on a dumbass story full of forgettable plot swerves. Basic streaming slop w a touch of charm. One Thumb Up for the pickup, one Thumb Down for the let down. 👍👎🚛

Fountain of Youth feels like a derivative video game adaptation w Ritchie speed running style over substance. Big-budget action cosplay in exotic locations stitched together by soulless AI generated expo dumps. Plot twist: it’s not based on anything. One middle finger up and two Thumbs down.🖕👎👎🫤

War of the Worlds: Revival is a mktg algorithm reboot infected w malware, a 90 min Zoom slog btwn "Gen Alpha relatable" aliens, shameless Amazon product placement reps, "edgy" screen lag, amateur CGI, stupid plot. Best watched muted w screen saver on. Two Thumbs Down for invading my bandwidth. 👎👎👽💩🤮

FD: Bloodlines revives a franchise born w a great premise but deteriorated with age. Every gruesome death still clicks into place like clockwork but this time the familial connection ratchets up the stakes and tension + bonus callbacks for fan service. Two Thumbs Up for the Grim Reaper glow up. 👍👍💀

Friendship starts as a buddy bromance w indie charm before drawing the audience into psychological quicksand. Squirmy, strange, and quietly devastating, it’s a cringe-inducing descent into codependence w Tim Robinson as the standout glitch of male social dysfunction. Two very awkward Thumbs Up. 👍👍😬
July 23, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Superman in IMAX is a bold Technicolor comic book w grownup themes made fun for kids. Hoult is an alpha scumbag, Brosnahan is smart, and Corenswet grounds the legend w Kansas charm. Superman's greatest power isn’t strength, it’s hope, Gunn captures the Reeve spirit with a new look. One Thumb Up. 👍🦸🏻‍♂️😎

"F1" is an immersive IMAX adrenaline-fueled joyride: Pitt cruises in top gear w cool old-Dad vibes and Idris chases glory as the cocky young tryhard. Sound is peak and story is surprisingly heartfelt. It’s cinematic nitro: loud, fast, and thrilling with feels. Two thumbs Up for the Grand Prix. 👍👍🏁

Sinners recalls the action horror melange of From Dusk till Dawn but sooo much better: upscaled w IMAX, upgraded w actors, upcycled w music that braids Black American culture into the pale gothic fabric of Vampire mythos. A soulful fresh take on the festering soulless, two sanguine Thumbs Up. 👍👍🩸🦇

The Gorge is a sci-fi survival action monster horror romance conspiracy thriller w plot holes as wide as that chasm. Production value is high but this thematic hot mess + CGI bloat = no stakes or depth, but actors G.I.Joe & Jane have the chops + chemistry to bridge the gap. One silly Thumb Up. 👍🌄💩

Heads of State is more spin than substance and makes for a better trailer than a movie. Despite good CGI the production looks bright and cheap, w predictable plotlines. John and Idris are charismatic but their recycled buddy banter has the energy of a C-SPAN marathon. Polls say: two Thumbs Down. 👎👎😴

The Monkey is director Perkins aping around in his MOOD piece playground: warm vintage lighting, eerie ambient SFX, voyeuristic deep focus shots and tight Dutch angles, it's inspired filmmaking with a mediocre script giving a Oo-oo-ha-ha killer flick w cult classic potential. One drumstick up. 👍🥁🙈

Novocaine is an action comedy that gives a light dose of anesthesia: a little numb, a little dumb, some script surprises + pokes on my funny nerves. The pseudo-superhero everyman feels like a fresh premise and Jack Quaid is charming enough, but the feeling fades fast. One Thumb Up w a mild buzz. 👍🦷🙃

Deep Cover gives silly scenes with shallow laughs but the actors understand the assignment and commit to the absurdity. The story assimilates cop cliches, stock action, and improv tropes with a few plot twists, good group energy, a Pizza Knight, and... Enya. Worth watching? Yes And, one Thumb Up. 👍😎

The Accountant 2 files too many subplots and waffles with no central villain, but it checks the right boxes of heart, humor, and solid action to balance the books. Credit the charisma and chemistry btwn Affleck and Bernthal for keeping the movie in the black. One Thumb Up w compound interest. 👍📟💵
June 12, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Death of a Unicorn trots w signature A24 charms: offbeat story, synth score, and some chimeric camerawork, but bad CGI, weird pacing and it's implausible 1/2 parody 1/2 horror amble prohibit this movie from reaching the legendary status of its namesake. One greedy Thumb Up, one slain horn down. 👍👎🦄💀
June 9, 2025 at 10:44 PM
Chronicle is aptly titled bc the found footage pov is used in service of the story- the primary source material of filmmaking- instead of as a gimmick to glaze and liaise a slipshod plot. Bromance, teen trauma, antihero origins all bundled into a surprisingly entertaining movie. Two Thumbs Up! 👍👍🖕🏻

Mountainhead starts as elevated nonfiction but drags on descent: a back-stabbing band of tech oligarchs exploit global crises to inflate their delusions of grandeur and net worth. The quotable script ollies btwn parody and prophecy, all performances are peak but CM Smith is perfection. One Thumb Up👍
June 1, 2025 at 11:58 PM
TLOU s2ep7 is well-paced w undulating tension; the storm rages, story beats hit hard, and (aided by plot armor) Ellie's fury is unyielding. But at what cost? People are not black or white in this infected apocalypse, and season 3 promises to drip red. One Thumb Up 👍 for Ep7, two Thumbs Up for S2. 👍👍
May 28, 2025 at 4:20 AM
MI8 is a good (but not great) IMAX experience, stunning set pieces + spectacular stunts, but the title teases it's flaw: a misguided ambition to tie 3 decades of popcorn impossibilities into a super serious "Final Reckoning" when we just wanna see TC run hard like the maniac he is. One Thumb Up. 👍👟🛩️
May 27, 2025 at 3:30 AM
TLOU s2ep6 treats us w fond flashbacks of Joel and poignant game references that kindle a nostalgic journey of spaceships, dinosaurs, moths, and back to fireflies, when we find passage (and new insight) to the calamity of the present over the defining rift of the Eugene encounter. Two Thumbs Up! 👍👍

Mickey 17 is Bong Joon Ho gone wild: an off-beat imaginative cross-genre adventure/parody with culture commentary, enhanced with big-budget FX and small human insights. Pattinson steals the show as Mickey 17 & 18 but the freaky alien Creepers give mesmerizing support. One Thumb Up, no reprints. 👍👽👬
