The base, which will probably be re-done in the future, is based on a location in V Rising called "Dracula's Demise" where you fight one of the coldest mfs to ever walk the earth: Lord Styx the Night Champion. I pulled the "blood crystal" model directly from the game files and 3d printed it.

After assembly, I snapped pics, crudely traced them in Procreate, and experimented with some color schemes before landing on this one (Cerulean has a color theme every year, 2024's was red). The scribbles at the bottom were me deciding which of my existing paints I could mix to make these colors

LUCKILY, I had an old kit that met all the criteria AND had an even larger "chest sphere". I ended up benching the MG Epyon chest in favor of the chest/torso from the no-grade 1/100 Dynames (Gundam 00). This posed its own problems because I had to figure out a new way to mount the wings

Originally, I chose the Epyon's chest piece because it had a spherical section in the center that reminded me of the the big orb in the center of the V Rising HUD that shows your blood level. I pursued this idea for as long as I could before I managed to break some of the small pieces around it 😅

The game I played the most during this time was V Rising. I played it a lot on PC during early access, but picked it up again on PS5 when 1.0 released. Meanwhile, with the topic of mental health and model kits firmly at the top of my mind, I decided to participate in The Cerulean Project.
