It is truly wild when you realize how much of coastal or coastal-adjacent property in California is occupied by fossil fuel facilities. Some of the best real estate in the world, and it is occupied by some of worst infrastructure we have.
It is the policy of California Coastal Commission to mandate fossil fuel activities immediately adjacent to the coast, and it is also the policy of City and County of Los Angeles to maximize fossil fuel use, so, yes, this is, currently, what California and Los Angeles want to happen on our coast.
Looming over what would otherwise be a beautiful stretch of pacific coastline, this facility represents about 1.5% of the US’s refining capacity. www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/n...

Last year Elon Musk and SpaceX claimed the NLRB is unconstitutional after being accused of labor violations.

Now under Trump, the NLRB is dropping its opposition to this claim.

The labor board will no longer fight in court against the charges that it shouldn't exist.

There are literally not enough journalists employed in the US to cover the bad shit that is happening right now. We are now going to experience the social consequences of a weakened news industry--which are the same as the benefits of a weakened news industry, to those who weakened it.

Interesting to see what mushroom cultivation looks like!
Mushrooms are grown year round near Morgan Hill CA thanks to indoor beds such as these pictured. This means farm workers like Casimiro can depend on reliable income for most of the year and able to support their families. #WeFeedYou

Water is becoming a major issue in the Southern California fires.

As crews battled the wildfire in Pacific Palisades, they put so much strain on the water system that the fire hydrants ran dry.

The fires have also fed ash into the water supply, leading to a boil order notice.

Last night in the bay area, some 400 mi north of LA, I stepped outside and could immediately feel how dry the air had become from these winds. The humidity gauge on my cheap outdoor thermometer had shot down so hard it seemed to overcorrect, reporting 10% (Google said 30%)
