Good news: I finished knitting the Briodag set and all pieces are ready by October as planned.
Of course, it was 80 degrees today and will be again this weekend. Autumn has to arrive at some point but I am not sure when!

Finally got out during weather cool enough yet still sunny enough to get a photo of my finished Briodag beret by Alice Starmore. It is unsurprisingly very warm.
I'm happy to see that the pattern shows up in the orchid/violet part of the hat.
Not bad for my very first stranded colorwork project!

Briodag fingerless gloves are making good progress! Keeping track of multiple charts is Not Fun with my attention span but I am muddling through it. The pattern is pretty rewarding to watch develop as you knit.

Current knitting WIP progress: a beret is forming! I am actually another few rows past this already but figure I will take another photo before switching to the 2nd background color.

Since we're doing shawls on #ShowMeYourKnits- here's a better photo of my Damascena shawl. I really do grab this every time I'm cold (from air conditioning, it's been super hot here all summer). It's so comfy and pretty!

I'm now working on Alice Starmore's Briodag kit, and have just completed the scarf! A little nervous about starting the proper colorwork.
Very much not the season for posing with scarves, even in air conditioning, phew.

Trying to get a photo of my Damascena shawl laid out was tough given the size, but it wears so nicely! Worth all the time and effort.

Apparently there's a guy selling his crocheted roses in the city, and my lovely husband bought one for me on sight. So cute!

Still working on the Damascena shawl, though on to the fun border. It'll probably take me a month to get through at my current pace, so I am likely gonna cast on a simpler side project soon. Maybe I'll knit some mitts in anticipation of spring...

Lace is the theme for #ShowMeYourKnits but for once I am not actively knitting lace. So I present a throwback to my wedding shawl/wrap, one of the first things I designed myself using a stitch dictionary and some Malabrigo Silky Merino yarn. I did not know how to knit triangles yet lol.

For this week's Valentine's themed #ShowMeYourKnits
I am still really proud of this red cowl/hood I came up with to solve my "it's cold out but I dont wanna crush my curls today" problem. Seamless with short row shaping.
Uses White Gum Wool bouclé yarn, which is incredibly soft and cozy. 🧶

Got to play with my xmas gift from my husband recently. I have no idea what I'm doing, it's great! Weaving is nice distraction from the chaos that will hopefully result in a coaster.

I knitted my first sweater 4 years ago! Pattern is Ya'ar by Chai Crafts. I stopped short for a cropped fit. The yarn is a discontinued 50/50 merino/yak blend. I still wear and love this one, so light and warm.

Currently working on the Damascena shawl from Short-Row Colorwork Knitting. (Excellent book btw!) Colorwork is the main skill I wish to improve on in 2025.
My color choices are arguably too low contrast, but I still like them. Yarn is Malabrigo sock in Eggplant and Tiziano Red.

#ShowMeYourKnits I think my favorite knit this year is a tie, my swatch hat that accidentally fit is great, but I am also really pleased with this violet hat I just made for my mother in law. I thought, "this yarn will look nice in this stitch pattern" and was right!

Just got this used book in the mail! I bought it for the Aran sweater on the cover but I love the 90s -ness of all the patterns/photos. My Gen X husband secretly misses the oversized sweater silhouette so I told him to flip through and post-it what he likes 😆

#ShowMeYourKnits autumnal colors: My favorite colors for clothes fit the bill but somehow only a few have ended up in any. Here's my fave project, pattern is
Aliso Creek Top by Irina Anikeeva (a designer I love). My guage was OFF, way loose, but I liked the effect so I rolled with it.

Here are the Hebridean yarn skeins propped up in direct sunlight with the pattern card. From left to right, the colorways are Selkie (which will be the main), Storm Petrel, Kelpie, and Limpet.
(I was tempted to do it in red like the card, not gonna lie. But I wanted a darker look.)

Yesssss!! Just got my box of Hebridean yarn from Virtual Yarns today! Some of the most beautiful heathers I have ever seen, I cannot wait to peep 'em in daylight. One of my 2025 goals is knitting Alice Starmore's Ruffled Raven Collar, so I got a kit.

This hat was my first project playing with cables. No pattern, just vibes, which is how it ended up too small for me so I gifted it. The beautiful yarn was from Verse Yarns, a 4-ply BFL in colorway Rose Finch. That yarn was love at first sight!

Went to an intro to watercolor class today!
Unsurprisingly, I did not finish (spent too much time getting colors right) but I learned a lot and am pleased with how I did. Water is so wily to work with when you're accustomed to pencils and yarn. 😅

The #ShowMeYourKnits theme is worsted/aran weight, so here's the first sweater I knit for my husband. The pattern is from PomPom's KnitHow book, and I used De Rerum Natura Gilliat as it suggested. I also wrote a blog post about it back in '21

For #ShowMeYourKnits, I present this vest in progress. I impulsively bought O-Wool yarn when the shop was closing, and figured why not knit a vest? 🧶 Inspired by a vintage men's pattern, I threw some cables on the front to appease my boredom, which is why they're kinda random. 😅

Early voting has begun here in NY, though I already voted by mail. It's a lovely day for it if you can make the time!
