Cool dive, seems like it would be fun to design a baddie or monster with this ability, maybe a second-in-command of the big bad? Agree on needless for PCs though.

My system is a mix of all the above. I set enemies at 20,15,10 and 5. Usually will put the toughest (or plot important) enemy at 15. That usually means the players are nicely mixed in with the hostiles, and I don’t need to worry about looking up each different creatures Dex stat. All before session.
