A dedicated shelter provides not only physical safety, but also a space where residents are not questioned, misgendered, or criminalized simply for existing.
Many are rejected by their families, pushed out of schools, discriminated against in employment, or forced to leave unsafe living situations. When housing options are limited or hostile, survival itself becomes uncertain.
