I need a less expensive hobby.

I love you and will miss you forever Oliver. I hope you loved being here with us as much as we loved you being here.

I promised when we re-homed you to spoil you rotten, and I can only how I succeeded.

Although honestly, I woke up to this much more frequently.

I have over 1000 photos on my phone and even more stories. I think I'm going to end this on the high note of him being a dork and having fun.

It's going to take awhile to come to terms with the fact that I'll never wake up to this again.

This is the longest. It shows him going from eating his toes, to noticing his tail, to pouncing, to lulling it into a false sense of security, to full attack. Original is 2 minutes, I trimmed it to 1 for bluesky.

Another video. From the same angle and spot because he always did this to entertain me while I was at my desk working. Co-workers always knew it was happening because I'd start laughing out of nowhere and tell them he spun into a wall again.

His favorite toy though, was his own tail. And if you've never seen an ambush predator stalk their own tail, you don't know comedy.

It mostly just turns into spinning in circles.

The cat tree was one of the few cat things he accepted.

We tried buying cat toys, but he just wanted my hair ties. Or strings on my clothes.

Or a fork from take out.

12/? The cat tree was a favorite fight spot. They both shared most things, but there was only one cat tree hammock and it was unanimously determined as the best spot in the house.

Fortunately the makers put a higher ledge on the tree so whoever lost the hammock could do claim victory by height.

All of their fights were the same. They'd bat at each other lazily for a few seconds and then be done. I can count on my hand the number of times a hiss was involved, and those we always stopped.

Most were started by Ollie and won by Sadie.

I can't tell how Sadie is feeling about things. She was in the room when he died, and when the cremation service picked him up so she knows he's gone in some regard and she's acting normal so far.

Speaking of Sadie, I found some video of her and Ollie "fighting"

I'm taking a break. Sadie would like my attention now.

At noon, he'd leave to go sleep in a different room. Usually, to bother Sadie. He loved her and she tolerated him. They'd been together since he was a kitten, but she'd had 3 years of being a solitary diva.

They'd only sleep together if Sadie was there first, and Ollie joined.

I think the best day of his life was when my office sent us all home due to Covid. I've been working remote ever since, and he's been my office buddy.

My desk has two cat beds, and his recent routine was to wake up with me for my morning meetings and sleep next to me until noon.

He always wanted cuddles. I have so many pictures of him passed out on, or near, me. If he couldn't be in you, he at least wanted a paw touching you at all times.

Fortunately, he warmed up to us quickly, and soon became an incredibly spoiled little boy who always needed to be in a lap.

This is the first picture I have of him. We'd just re-homed him and his older sister (no actual relation) Sadie.

If he was meticulous licking his belly, he had a personal vendetta against his back feet. He spread his toes as far as he could, grab onto a claw, and fling his head back as far as he could.

Like all cats, Oliver was meticulously clean. Unlike all cats, he had to hawk up loogies in order to do so. You could tell he was taking a bath from the other side of the house.
