the change could actually help the issue of the barrier to entry for new farmers being so high- if large farms had to sell parcels of land, that frees up some land. In NI the average land prices are highest in the UK - this change could help nudge the price down

farmers think they’ll live forever. What annoys me is the same people who will shout loudly about the importance of a “family farm”, will likely be the same folk unwilling to sign their land on. It’s either a family farm or it’s not

and they haven’t gotten rid of the 7 year rule - sign your land over to your child and if they continue to farm it, and you don’t die in 7 years, no tax
