it’s simple, yet still able to hit right in the feels and makes it so easy to at least like him. all of that + the difference between the initial image we had of him and how he’s really like work really well together to create what i view as a success in making a character.

what makes it feel even more human is the work we put in to know more about him. it’s just like how a real-life relationship develops: taking time and effort to learn about someone’s every side after the first impressions. also, his story is emotional and raw, but not too grand or overdoes it.

his agent story focuses more on the present, and trust events on the past. he’s not moved on from his past yet, and that’s okay. it even makes all of this feel much more human, because moving on is never an easy journey. he’s still trying to and we get to witness it and it’s just so endearing.

all of those set up a good ground for getting to know how he’s truly like, and it works so well. by putting in time and effort, we slowly learn more about him, how he can be sweet, a bit childish, playful yet vulnerable, emotional, and even the “disturbing” thoughts he’s had.

his ep tells his past, but partly and just enough to leave us with interest and questions. yes, there are emotions shown, but not the depth of his feelings, how he felt about his past etc., the most we get is his determination to be stronger and win in the ring, fueled by his past companions.

that image was maintained very well even after his trailer and ep, and i’d like to view that as purposeful. his trailer mostly shows his strength, coolness and a bit of the behind-the-scenes work he does (which not many people are aware of).
