Over the next few weeks, follow our series #DefendtheDefenders to learn about the athletes championing human rights - who deserves special protections as they put their careers, well being, and safety on the line to fight for dignity and equality. 📣

Now, as an @AthleteAlly ambassador, and a member of the SRA #AthletesNetwork for Safer Sports, McCullough continues to fight for equality and justice, using her platform to challenge inequality and promote systemic change in sports and beyond. ⚖️

Her courageous advocacy was pivotal in helping U.S. women footballers secure a historic collective bargaining agreement through the @nwsl_players guaranteeing free agency, player health safeguards, and protections against abuse. ✊

📢 In 2021, McCullough exposed emotional and verbal abuse by her former coach, sparking an investigation and the coach’s dismissal. Her bravery highlighted the urgent need for accountability & protections within the #NWSL, leading to a wider reckoning for player rights.

Kaiya McCullough, former professional soccer player for the Washington Spirit & Würzburger Kickers, was one of the first college athletes to kneel in solidarity with #ColinKaepernick and has continued to challenge injustice both on and off the field.
