A frame from a recent Mark Trail comic. You can tell it's recent because the style looks less like Rip Kirby In Canada and more like Archie Goes Camping. In the frame, Mark is standing next to a grasshopper mouse, also known as a scorpion mouse (Onychomys torridus). Mind you, the mouse is at the same level as Mark's head, so either it's on a big rock or he's standing in a hole. Mark looks a little cross-eyed, and has a big smile as he says "If I could eat a scorpion, I'd howl at the moon too!" He may be slightly stunned. The mouse, apparently unfazed by this witty repartee, is performing its territorial vocalisation, referred to as howling. (It is probably telling the annoying human to piss off.) The moon is also in frame, but refrains from commenting.
