D’une conception malvenue de la nécessité d’une forme de parité idéologique, d’une représentation des idées nauséabondes sur le village gaulois retranché du service public, celui qui sent encore bon ? Il y a déjà Finkielkraut et quelques autres pour assurer la caution réac sur FranceCul. Ce bothsidesism impénitent, doublé ici d’une déconnexion entre les références professionnelles de MBC et le sujet proposé, est problématique. Déjà, la présence de MBC (et dans une moindre mesure Yascha Mounk et Eva Illouz, sortes d’idiots utiles de l’extrême droite) dans votre podcast sur la démocratie m’avait échaudé : il y a quelque chose de l’acte manqué, dans une émission intitulée “comment en finir avec la démocratie”, à inviter précisément la sorte de discours qui en sape les fondements et fait élire l’extrême droite. L’ironie ferait sourire, en d’autres temps.

Point de traduction dominical : le 𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘶𝘯 du §2 de « La résistance ». Les principales traductions françaises en font un « fusil » ou un « pistolet », ce qui ne cadre pas avec le « vacarme » d'une « machinerie compliquée  ». Plus qu'une simple détonation, le bruit d'une mécanique mal huilée ?
Thoreau, « La résistance au gouvernement civil », §2 : « Ce gouvernement américain, — qu’est-il sinon une tradition, quoique récente, qui tente de se transmettre intacte à la postérité, mais perd chaque instant de son intégrité ? Il n’a point la vitalité et la force d’un seul homme vivant ; car un seul homme peut le plier à sa volonté. C’est une sorte de canon de bois (2) pour le peuple lui-même, et si le peuple devait jamais s’en servir pour de bon comme d’un canon réel les uns contre les autres, il volerait à coup sûr en éclats (3). Mais il n’en est pas moins nécessaire pour autant ; car il faut que le peuple ait une machinerie compliquée ou une autre, et qu’il en entende le vacarme, pour satisfaire à cette idée du gouvernement qu’il a. » 2.2 : La « machinerie compliquée » et le « vacarme » qui suivent excluent que le gun du texte original soit un fusil ou un pistolet. Par ailleurs, dans 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯, Thoreau appelle les canons de Concord, qui retentissent les jours de gala, « great guns » et « big guns » (160). En outre, dans le vocabulaire de la marine, le terme wooden gun désigne un faux canon (Romme, 30). 2.3 : Dans la première moitié du XIXᵉ siècle circulent des anecdotes mettant en scène des canons de bois utilisés lors de sièges. Celle que rapporte 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 mentionne des canons de bois servant d’abord d’artifices pour dissuader l’ennemi, puis, la dissuasion échouant, d’armes ; leur utilisation entraînant leur explosion, ils sont à usage unique (27).
