Seems like a damned if you do damned if you don't type of thing. If you stay, the only way you're 'doing a good job' is by helping these people succeed. Staying to do a bad job to slow them down, you're going to get booted to the curb anyway? I guess slowing them down for a bit still has worth.

Older catcher chest pads when I was a kid (30+ years ago) had an extension down between the legs but you don't generally see that in adult sized gear.

Respectfully, I'm speaking from experience both catching and umping. I think I would agree, if it was high school ball, but those kids are probably 10 years old so I don't think the velocity is there. Foul ball or not.

I can respect that. That said, it might have had a bigger impact if she'd accepted and then donated it to a worthy cause that her father would have hated.
