Chances are that you're gonna have to deal with your local unemployment service at some point. Whilst my own experience, at least my recent one, is generally limited to Ireland, a lot of these pointers are pretty much universal!
Dealing with Unemployment Services
Now, unless you have a massive pension fund that you can allow yourself to dig into a little early, chances are that at some point after losing your job you’re likely going to have to interact with unemployment services to some degree, whether it’s because you need to apply for benefits payments, get housing or rent assistance, or simply to sign on as being unemployed even if you don’t want to apply for benefits, whatever legislation in your country dictates.

#TFI #Bikes has gone electric! The introduction of #e-Bikes is the biggest change in the system's ten year history here in #Cork. But are the new bikes all they're cracked up to be?

Going Electric - TFI Bikes introduces e-Bikes in Cork
It’s springtime, the weather is getting warm, the trees are in full bloom, and I haven’t written anything about TFI Bikes for far too long. ...

This one goes out to all employers out there! Layoffs might be unavoidable at times, but that doesn’t mean that you can just bring the hammer down and walk away!
The Do’s and Do Not’s of Breaking the News
This one goes out to all the employers out there! I know that there are situations in which companies just don’t have any choice but to let people go. Internal power struggles camouflaged as “reorganisations” aren’t among these situations in my eyes, but that’s beside the point for now. Whatever the reason for the move is, informing employees is never going to be easy.

Trying something new here with my new blog. It’s all about my experiences with getting laid off and how to deal with that situation.
Enjoy!
Layoffs – Handling the News
There’s no doubt about it, losing your job can be traumatic, whether you’re being let go individually, are caught up in a larger redundancy, or even have to hand in your resignation for health reasons, even though you may not want to. You’ve likely spent months, if not years in that role, and you’ve grown accustomed to it. And now, all of a sudden, this familiar environment is gone from one moment to the next.

Can't remember the Lee Fields in #Cork ever being one solid lake before. At least , I've never seen it before. Any chance of a high speed ferry to #Ballincollig?

Out and about in #Cork and out on a TFI #Bike for the first time since October 2024. How come no one is really talking about this, given that it's such an asset and that it's having its tenth anniversary here this year? Might be an idea for @corkcyclingcrew.bsky.social?

This might be a stupid question, but am I the only one still trying to figure out what to actually use BlueSky for?

I think it's only appropriate for my first post here on Blue sky to be... a blue sky
