I almost slid the pie onto the floor getting it out of the tin but it was fine and in any case I had a back-up pie for emergencies. To start we had these little fried dough triangles with some excellent British culatello

Then we had a ferrarese dinner at work. When I visited Ferrara I was really ill and only went outside for meals so it has a kind of fever-dream status in my mind. This magnificent pie was a tribute to that
