Attended another splendid music event @fishercenterbard: Bohuslav Martinů’s brilliant, absurdist/surreal opera, Julietta (1938). With its magnificent score performed by the American Symphony Orchestra–Leon Botstein conducting, powerful singers, and opera buffa counterpoints, it was, well, a dream.

The Assumption of the Virgin by Bernardo Daddi, tempera on wood panel, gold ground, completed 1337 – 1339, possibly created as the upper half of an altarpiece for a chapel in the Cathedral of Prato. Currently on exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Gallery 952). One of my favorite paintings.
