I like public transit and railways
I am from Ottawa (all door boarding but some drivers clearly don't like it), spent a lot of time in Waterloo (front door boarding) and now I'm living in Delft and in various Dutch systems, I've always seen front door boarding despite every door having a place to tap on

It feels like the sort of make-work program that bad transit agencies in North America do, not a supposed transit paradise

The trams in Rotterdam and Den Haag don't need this, much less any tram I've ridden anywhere else in the world, including Milan, Zürich, Vienna, Cologne, Munich, Berlin, and Paris

Maybe they're worried about fare evasion, especially from tourists, but I don't think that doubling your staffing cost is a good way to address fare evasion, especially when limiting boarding to a single door causes issues with tram dwell times and people all standing in the middle of the vehicle

For reasons I don't understand, Amsterdam bans entry to the tram from anywhere other than a single pair of doors and then pays for an whole second employee whose job is to yell at people for trying to enter the vehicle in the wrong place.

This seems to be something that happens to every YouTuber over time. I think there's an element of people better learning how to make videos that makes them increase in length - like how it becomes easier to write long papers after you've written a few
