Spent today playing Banished wondering when I was going to beat it, only to find there is no end-game. You just build forever and ever and stop whenever you feel like you "beat" the game.

If anyone wants to know why my blood pressure spikes when I'm in a doctor's office, now you know why.

I'm all for mental health support, but what the hell is this gaslighting from YouTube? Just because I'm not creating content every day I must be having some kind of mental meltdown or something? Really weird vibes from this email.

My self-hosting journey hasn't come to an end, but it has slowed down and I'm happy to finally be settled with the results.

$80+ a month saved in just hosting things myself. No cloud involvement whatsoever, and self-hosted websites. Really happy with the results.

Have you ever not subscribed to a service's emails for a legitimate million-dollar+ company, get spammed by them, and then when attempting to unsubscribe their domain won't resolve, meaning you just can't unsubscribe... ever?

Am I the only person I the world that always felt that going to the movie theater is/was weird just in general? You sit next to a person you don't know, don't want to know, and actively avoid each other to then do a thing together you wish you didn't have to.

What ever, really, was the point?

Happy 39th birthday to me (it was over a few hours ago)!

Instead of receiving gifts, here's a gift for you...
I rebuilt AOL Instant Messenger from scratch.

Retro Instant Messenger is here and (mostly, kinda-sorta, but probably not) out of alpha.

It doesn't get any funnier than claiming you support and welcome diversity at the White House press briefing, then immediately introduce Tim Pool, the guy who's podcast was literally funded by Russia, at your briefing.

That is somehow both the most, and the least diverse you could possibly be.

The amount of money I will have saved on cutting down cloud subscriptions services for password management, etc. pays for a multi-thousand-dollar NAS with equal perf in ~3 years. 20+ TBs storage, no cost for compute, high capacity ECC RAM, M.2 read+write caches, and 2x 10gbit links LAN & WAN.

I can confirm I have found the solution to the US egg problem. Tests are looking very positive.

Nothing quite like banning yourself from your own websites accidentally by sending pings to make sure the they are up.

Then, getting woken up in the middle of the night with your webhooks telling you all your sites are down and spending an hour trying to fix it only to find it's just you.

Someone complimented my music and likened it to Philip Glass.

One could only wish to live up to such high praise.

The thing that makes me the saddest is that since the government has "banned" TikTok to prevent China from stealing user personal data, those users have signed up for a new service owned by Chinese State Media called Red Note, handing over their personal info directly.

Not the outcome you wanted...

If you didn't know, Python has had switch case since 3.10!
You should use switch/case instead of multiple else if's.

When you think about it, saying the "speed of light" doesn't make sense does it? Instead, I would argue that mass, or more specifically, the lack of mass, determines a binary inherence.

If an object has mass, it can never reach lightspeed. If it does not, it will always be at lightspeed.
