Noticeably, yet predictably absent: any plan for what they will do about it. I love (hate) how these political leaders’ consistent response to any crisis seems to be …expecting someone else to do something.

Early-1900s era Rs were more progressive than today’s Ds (who are now more like Reagan-era Rs). Bad guys took over the good, and basically gave us today’s bad Rs and better (meh) Ds. The official R party planks of 1912 (paraphrased below) are mind-blowing, and sadly long-forgotten, by both.
