We conclude that, "Legal protections, access to health care, and providing a path to citizenship for deeply rooted immigrant families are important steps toward reducing the harms and unintended consequences of evolving U.S. immigration policies across all those who call this country home."

This article was a bit of a crash course into the arduous yet rewarding process of peer-reviewed academic writing and in a testament to the title, was a bit of chase of a moving target as the "ever-evolving" U.S. immigration policy landscape has shifted dramatically.
