Saved twice in two days in Fenwick Delaware, at the Fenwick hotel. First stop was back at the car getting lunch for family waiting on the beach, when I turned around it was at my toes, the car coming of the spot was sure to run him over. I picked him up and put him in my car. Then I went back to the beach and forgot about him until the next day when the kids woke up. It took a while to find it but once we did the kids demanded we return him to that grassy patch of land next to the bay. The hotel was on the bay side. A full day later the ducks were in the grassy patch making a ruckus. we went over there and they were pecking at that same terrapin, trying to eat it for breakfast. I picked it up again and shooed the ducks away. That was back in June.

You yourself use the term The Black People in your bio, and yet get bent out of shape when a native New Yorker says it you think he is not allowed because he is white? Which term would you prefer? MY point is they should not be helping ICE goon squads. Can you just see that point?
your bio uses the term Black People - but you got a problem with me using the term. Tell me what you prefer in your part of the country, because up here in NYC people who are my friends talk about being Black all the time.

POC joining agents to deport people legally processing their paperwork to become LEGAL permanent residents. People of Color are stopping Mexicans to deport them. Officer helping Ice Goons ICE even hires POC to do their dirty work

I just love the details in this press. IT captures the mood with his grey and gloom and overcast sky This was the General having a bad hair day. He prolly needs a bit of a shave as well. Maps, the book is full of beautiful maps that get me lost for hours sometimes, trying to compare them to google Earth today. Just some of the text with the footnotes - sometimes the footnotes take more than half the page. IT is fascinating to hear the language of the day and I imagine myself back in that time straining to understand someone who would be speaking like this barking out orders. I can only imagine what the accents would be of these people, these survivors of the ugly and the carnage and the evil. I expect things to get much worse now before they get better

Currently re-reading this classic found in my father's library. One of several I managed to save before getting thrown in the dumpster by my sister. The ALT text has more to the story.
In 1868 the SDNY commissioned a documentation of war crimes during the war. This was one of several volumes. It was written by the survivors and there are many letters people wrote home about their experiences. Page 1 chapter 1. I love the etchings, so many of them on many of the pages. Such care, skill, and technique lost to us in this generation. That is why your work with old school ink press perked my interest. you are doing a yeoman work there, keep at it, not many of us left with the knowledge or appreciation. it was really enlightening for me to discover how they were able to print out several copies of cursive handwriting in different handwriting styles on the many letters home describing their war experiences. All of these are annotated and footnoted and just fascinating reads from first hand accounts of that war which was anything but civil. Sorry, I have to report I have 4 very busy kids who are ever distracting me and breaking my train of thought here. I have like over 1886 characters left to write a missive about these pictures but right now the turtle tank needs immediate attention, even though the turtle will likely outlive me by many decades. Such if the life doting on kids needs in the immediate tense. This is just another sample page from this same book. more etchings of the willow tree, which I had one as a kid growing up in our side yard on a pond outside our home. I have other books from the same period and other earlier periods, saved from my father's library, but this is my current one given current events to find a way somehow to avoid another war amongst ourselves. I know my MAGA brother will turn me in on a dime for the reward he would get. We can't allow that to happen. Born in the early 60's I grew up with Make Love not War. I have to believe some of that is still out there.

Now she is getting much bigger, had to buy a new 40 gallon tank for her. Fenwick we call her for the town in Delaware that we rescued her from. there is more to the story in the alt text.
I turned to go back to the car cause the kids called from the beach said put more water into cooler. Just as I turned back I almost stepped on this baby, that is the spot I found it. A car was coming out of its parking spot and would have run it over. I picked it up and put it in the car. Little thing was less than half the size of my key fob. I left him in the car and went back to the beach. The next morning I remembered and told the kids about it. We went down and it was still in the car but right under my gas pedal. Kids made me put him on the grassy empty lot on the bay not far from where I found it in the parking lot. Two days later the ducks were pecking around in the field and we went out there and found this same baby turtle. That was it, the ducks were not going to eat this one. I did what the kids wanted and set it free. Now I had to save its life again. This turtle I decided was coming home with me. So here we are, 5 months later and Fenwick, which was much smaller than that silver sticker on the filter in the tank is now getting new digs in a much bigger tank.

my dog, a true rescue, left tied to a fence with a bag of food overnight on a frozen morning. After finding out Newark is a kill shelter my kids convinced me to foster the dog for a couple of weeks. That was 3+ years ago.

Commissioned by the SDNY to document the war crimes.
My dad had dozens of books from the same time period that SDNY stashed away in University Law Schools. Sadly many ended up in the dumpster.

I know you will likely not see this but here is a book I got from my fathers library (he was an NYC schoolteacher in The Bronx)
IT was written 2 years after the war by the SDNY.
It documented much of the war and the war crimes. There were several volumes.
There were so many etchings in this book that make it such a treasure. They really do not make them like this anymore They got everything done correctly. The letters home were powerful and descriptive of the horror of that war. We cannot find people today who know how to write cursive. The maps in this book are as amazing as the etchings of the Generals and the letters. It was one of the few things I was able to save when my dad died and my sisters sold his house and threw everything in the dumpster. People don't consider books anymore, to them books are just taking up space.
