Now the Rouble is losing value by the minute. Quite extraordinary. Even if they manage to stop the bleeding, the last hours will echo through the coming months.

Following the Rouble closely, I have updated my earlier graphs with the last two weeks. The slow crash has shifted to a fast-moving train wreck.

As a follow-up to my post yesterday (bsky.app/profile/thom...), the Rouble has now crossed the 100RUB-to-the-US$ again. It seems to be a psychological level for the Russian Central Bank, and will likely trigger a new rate hike. Stay tuned!

Since Russias invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Central Bank has fought on several different fronts - fighting inflation and shoring up the Rouble among these. How good have they been at this? I've looked at the exchange rate vs Central bank rate as a start:
