Anyway they've not replied yet, so let's wait and fucking see. End rant. This really sucks.

I hate using ADHD timekeeping issues as excuses. It's the only explanation I have, apart from "I'm a useless piece of shit who can't do basic tasks."

But I guess if I wasn't like this, then I wouldn't be on Universal credit, and I wouldn't have to deal with the job centre's bullshit.

I sent them this. I tried not to be rude or abrasive. I doubt they'll listen to me. They work in their own magical world where people can drop everything on a whim, not panic, attend 5 minute appointments and everything is A-OK.
January 18, 2025 at 3:42 PM
But maybe if they spoke with me to *arrange things first* then I wouldn't be sat here posting in tears because I'm melting down and panicking and telling myself how fucking useless I am at any of this, and constantly asking myself whether I'm in the wrong here.

Apparently I've been in an "intensive work group" since October (what does this mean?), and my fit-note deadline was wrong?

Look, I'm sorry my brain doesn't work properly. I'm sorry I've not been able to book a doctor's appointment in months because I'm useless.

Note that this new appointment is in school-run time, so if I am expected to attend I have to either get the bus alone, or leave the house with my husband and get someone else to be home for my child. I got a note moments later to tell me what this appointment is about.

Fast forward to this month. I got a note to say they'd booked me an appointment for a week's time. The next day they changed my appointment with 2 days notice. Luckily I hadn't got plans but they seemingly hadn't learned anything.

There was no phone call.

Just another change of appointment.

This was all over and sorted. I attended further (agreed upon!) meetings to discuss my employment situation - all involved agreed that my business is not Gainful Employment™ - and was given a year to submit my fit note. Fine. Good. Ok.

To put this in context, we finally got a car in July. It occurred to me that if I had needed to get the bus to this meeting, we would have had to pay £8 (I needed my husband there as my carer). We were still waiting for our initial payment so would not have been able to afford this.

I pushed them the next day because of the urgency and they were able to call me to reschedule.

I attended the 2nd appointment at the job centre, which turned out to take a grand total of 3 minutes. I just had to confirm things, no signatures or ID needed, no reason for this to be in person.
January 18, 2025 at 3:42 PM
After my initial appointments, we agreed upon a time for the next one. However this was rescheduled without my permission with 2 days notice. They were perfectly happy to give reasons for the change in the online journal, but not to offer a simple apology.

The job centre seems to operate in a vastly different world to the one the rest of us live in. They have serious issues with how appointment bookings function.

In the real world, an appointment is scheduled by both parties at an agreed upon time.

The job centre do not understand how this works

Ohhh noo ouch 😣 Luckily Sandman is the only book of his I own cos the other stuff I've read has either been on audiobook or kindle, those are easier to delete. And thats only like 4 books. I just like Sandman.
January 15, 2025 at 2:32 PM
And I can't overstate how beautiful these books are, easily the loveliest books I own. Massive hardbacks with brown leather effect covers, half of the entire Sandman in each, really thick good quality pages. I wish they weren't by him.

Welp. World of Books gives the price at £5.01 💀 Tom says if we're selling them it has to be at least worth a portion of fish and chips each
